Transport and Port Infrastructure

On 29 November 2021, MinRes entered into an agreement with Hancock (the MinRes-Hancock Joint Venture Agreement) to jointly investigate the development of new iron ore port facility at the Stanley Point 3 Berth (SP3) in South West Creek. within the inner harbour at the Port of Port Hedland.

On 1 February 2022, the Government of Western Australia announced that it had granted a port capacity allocation to the MinRes-Hancock JV, at SP 3 in South West Creek, subject to various approvals and agreements to develop and operate, along with a positive final investment decision by MinRes and Hancock. The MinRes-Hancock JV continues to advance the consents, approvals and engineering studies required to support the final investment decision. If SP3 is developed, MinRes is aiming to ship at least 20 million tonnes per annum of iron ore from Marillana.

The MinRes–Hancock JV Operation continues to advance the engineering studies required to support the final investment decision (FID) on the rail and port infrastructure which will facilitate the export of the Marillana ore. MinRes is also advancing studies and preparation (including miscellaneous licence applications, environmental studies and permitting) for the haul road corridor from Marillana to a rail loading facility on the Roy Hill railway.
